The
Wagnalls
Memorial Foundation
Scholarships

Mabel Wagnalls Jones
The
Mabel Wagnalls Jones Scholarship
Mabel
Wagnalls Jones established as one aspect of her bequest to The
Wagnalls Memorial Foundation, a fund to provide scholarships for
persons residing in Lithopolis and Bloom Township. The
scholarships are to be used for attending institutions of
learning, music and art. Scholarships were awarded beginning in
1948 and over 3,200 students have been assisted in attending
colleges across the United States.
The
purpose of the scholarship fund is to encourage and assist
students of Bloom Township to obtain a degree in higher
education. The primary responsibility for meeting the cost of a
college education lies with the student and his family. It is
recognized that the benefits the Fund provides are not intended
to meet the total financial obligation of a student attending a
college or university.
